The Florida Association of Advisor for Health Professions (FLAAHP) is an organization of health professions advising professionals at colleges and universities in the state of Florida. FLAAHP seeks to support advisors and advising faculty statewide via professional development opportunities and communication related to health professional schools and programs in the state of Florida.
MISSION: The Florida Association of Advisors serves as a resource for distribution of relevant health professions information and professional development for health professions advisors/faculty. Our primary concern is to distribute accurate information related to the preparation of students in the health-related professions including allopathic and osteopathic medicine, dentistry, physician assistants, pharmacy, physical therapy, veterinary, occupational therapy, optometry, podiatry, chiropractic, nursing, and others.
VISION STATEMENT: The vision of FLAAHP is to become the primary organization, in the state of Florida, providing support and education to health professions advisors/faculty by:
• Promoting excellence in health professions advising in Florida colleges and universities
• Providing resources to enhance health professions advising for advisors/faculty
• Providing relevant resources for students pursuing health professions
• Enhancing awareness of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Encouraging relationships between advisors/faculty and health profession schools/programs in the state of Florida
• Access to and encouragement for resources, leadership, and collaboration with SAAHP and NAAHP MEMBERSHIP.
MEMBERSHIP: FLAAHP will, to the best of its ability, maintain a current list of prehealth advisors/faculty within the state of Florida for all state colleges, community colleges, and universities. All on the list are considered members of FLAAHP and have access to information and services. All on the list agree to receive communication from FLAAHP.
COMMUNICATION: Communication from FLAAHP will include information related to prehealth advisor, faculty, and student professional development per state, regional and national prehealth advising associations. This does not include promotions for any third party, institutional, or private communications. FLAAHP will not release advisor/faculty personal contact information. Advisors/faculty may request removal from the list at any time.
